Tucker Swanson McNear Carlson (born May 16, 1969) is an American political anchor, pundit, and television personality, who formerly hosted political talk show Tucker Carlson Tonight on the Fox News Channel. Upon his abrupt termination announced on April 24, 2023,[1] Carlson was silent about the liberal censorship perhaps by agreeing to stay quiet -- which harms the conservative movement -- in exchange for a large payment by the television network.

Carlson rose to prominence as a leading conservative voice after the fall of figures like Rush Limbaugh and Bill O’Reilly, gaining popularity during the COVID-19 era for his anti-establishment tone on Fox News. However, his career took a dramatic turn after his 2023 ouster from the network, following workplace controversy and internal tensions after the Dominion lawsuit.

Post-FOX, Carlson explored alternative narratives which he wouldn't have been allowed to promote while at Fox. In 2024, he traveled overseas to obtain the "sides of the story" of regimes hostile to the Washington establishment. He also began promoting revisionist historians while employing overtly hostile rhetoric toward traditional allies of the Washington establishment. This has led to former allies distancing themselves, and accusations that he is an asset of foreign regimes, particularly Qatar.

Early career

Carlson formerly co-hosted Crossfire on CNN, and Tucker on MSNBC, and was one of the few good and successful anchors on MSNBC before the network strengthened its progressive stance with its "Lean Forward" campaign. Tucker is known to take more consistent stances compared to his fellow Fox commentators, many of whom are flimsy neocons[2].

In 2010, Carlson, with Neil Patel, established online news website The Daily Caller. The website is considered to be an excellent source for conservative news and a welcome polar opposite to left-wing sources such as the Huffington Post.

Remarking in the sham indictments of President Trump and Biden regime 2024 Presidential election interference, Calson said,

"Once you start indicting your political opponents, you know that you have to win or else they're going to indict you if they win...So they can't lose...They will do anything to win...So how do they do that?...They're not going to do Covid again, I know everyone on the right is afraid they're going to do Covid and mask mandates -- they can't do that...They're already been exposed...That won't work...What are they going to do?...They're going to go to war with Russia is what they're going to do...There will be a hot war between the United States and Russia in this next year”.

Fox News stint

After commentator Bill O'Reilly resigned from Fox News due to sexual abuse allegations, Carlson replaced him at the 8 p.m. EDT time slot. He also replaced O'Reilly as the number one rated cable TV show for that time slot.[3] His ratings were nearly as high as O'Reilly's.[4] In late March 2019, his show received more viewers than all of CNN's primetime hosts combined.[5] In summer of 2020, Tucker Carlson Tonight broke the all-time record for the highest-rated program in U.S. cable news history.

Carslon has stood up to the leftist mob,[6] and the cost of ads on his show nearly doubled despite left-wing attempts to boycott him.[7]

On July 17, 2019, Carlson spoke for nearly an hour at a National Conservatism Conference. He discussed issues such as government and capitalism[8].

Tucker Carlson does not support criminal justice reform[9] .

Radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh has in jest long referred to Carlson as Chatsworth T. Osborne, Jr., a character on the old Dwayne Hickman CBS television series, The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis, played by Stephen Robert "Steve" Franken (1932-2012). Limbaugh uses the nickname to exploit his slightly younger and greater tendencies than average to New England dress and mannerisms into humorously reducing him to the stereotype of the broadly drawn situation comedy character.[10]

Much to the surprise of many conservatives, Carlson bashed Trump lawyer Sidney Powell during the 2020 election. Powell claimed that Carlson had spoken rudely to her, and that she never wanted to talk to him again.[11] He claimed she offered him "no evidence", despite the fact that she could not do so until after the court trial is finished.[12]

Though ADL, for decades have been and are doing great work fighting hate, the current head, Jonathan Greenblatt is a leftist who was a former member of Barack Obama's administration. In Oct 2022, Rabbinic Group called for CEO Jonathan Greenblatt’s resignation after it tweeted claiming that Tucker Carlson 'went full Nazi,' thus minimizes Holocaust.[13]

For his criticism of the NATO war in Ukraine Carlson was added to the official neo-Nazi kill list.[14]

In Feb 2023, Tucker is the highest rated TV show in cable news, with some 35 Million viewers. [15]

In 2023, Tucker called out the banking system in the wake of Silicon Valley Bank's demise: "We're getting moral lectures from the banks."[16]

Tucker's first video tweet after his removal garnered 57 million views in 24 hours.[17]

Biden presidential challenger Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. tweeted the day after Carlson's termination from Fox,

"Fox fires TuckerCarlson five days after he crosses the red line by acknowledging that the TV networks pushed a deadly and ineffective vaccine to please their Pharma advertisers. Carlson’s breathtakingly courageous April 19 monologue broke TV’s two biggest rules: Tucker told the truth about how greedy Pharma advertisers controlled TV news content and he lambasted obsequious newscasters for promoting jabs they knew to be lethal and worthless. For many years, Tucker has had the nation's biggest audience averaging 3.5 million — 10 times the size of CNN. Fox just demonstrated the terrifying power of Big Pharma."[18]

Post-FOX Controversies

World War II and Holocaust Controversies

On September 2, 2024, Carlson hosted revisionist historian and Nazi apologist Darryl Cooper on his show "Tucker on X." During the show, Cooper portrayed Winston Churchill as the true villain of World War II while portraying Adolf Hitler as a misunderstood peace-seeker.[19]

The interview, widely seen as insufficiently critical, triggered widespread condemnation. The White House denounced the interview as "Nazi propaganda." [20] Congressman Ritchie Torres (D-NY) introduced H. Res. 1543 — a resolution formally condemning Carlson for “perpetuating harmful falsehoods, fostering antisemitism, and undermining the fight against hate and bigotry.”[21][22]

A group of Jewish House Democrats issued a joint statement declaring: “The normalization of Nazism is unacceptable and dangerous, and must be forcefully condemned.”[23]

Ben Domenech wrote in The Spectator that Carlson’s editorial direction had become indefensible even to longtime allies, sarcastically summarizing Carlson’s revisionism as: “Why don’t we fully appreciate the total bind Adolf Hitler was in?”[24]

In August 2025, Carlson hosted Dave Collum, a Cornell chemistry professor and conspiracy theorist. During the show, Collum questioned the legitimacy of the Allied stance in World War II and implied that Hitler was the lesser evil compared to Joseph Stalin.[25] While some may consider this statement to pro-Nazi, at face value it actually isn't. Like Hitler, Stalin was mass murdering totalitarian dictator. And also like Hitler, according to historians such as Louis Rapoport, there's a good chance Stalin would have carried out his own "Final Solution" had he lived longer.[26] And even then, Stalin had a higher body count than Hitler before, during, and after the war. However, Collum then followed up with a much more unfounded claim that Hitler would not have carried out the Holocaust had the Allies aligned with him against Stalin rather than the other way around. Hitler's own words, such as his infamous "prophecy", strongly suggest otherwise.[27]

Carlson did not object to either of Collum's claims during the interview.[28] This led to condemnation from conservative figures such as Rich Lowry, who wrote that Carlson had “out-Tuckered himself,” turning his show into a platform for “ignorance and perversity masquerading as brave truth-telling.”[25]

Criticism of Israel (2024 to present)

Carlson has platformed anti-Israel voices, often without pushback.

In December 2024, Carlson hosted Munther Isaac, an anti-Zionist Palestinian pastor known for his inflammatory rhetoric. Watchdog groups criticized Carlson for amplifying Isaac’s rhetoric without challenge, particularly during a time of rising antisemitism worldwide.

In 2025, Carlson interviewed a former Church of the Nativity spokesperson involved in the 2002 siege of Bethlehem, during which armed Palestinian militants occupied the church. The guest, presented by Carlson as a “Christian peace advocate,” had previously propagated false narratives that Israeli forces had attacked the church — a claim repeatedly disproven by journalists and Vatican sources at the time.

  13. ↑ Rabbinic Group calls for CEO Greenblatt’s resignation after ADL tweet minimizes Holocaust, October 21, 2022.

"Minimizing the Holocaust is never acceptable," said CJV President Rabbi Yoel Schonfeld, "and to compare anyone to a Nazi does just that unless that person is calling for genocide or at least inciting violence. Were the ADL even minimally competent, it would call out, not endorse, a ridiculous tweet claiming that Tucker Carlson ‘went full Nazi.’ Under Greenblatt, the ADL is incompetent to fight antisemitism at a time when it is on the rise. He must step down."

...This year, CJV repeated that the ADL was "misus[ing] antisemitism for partisan purposes" after yet another attack on Carlson, and later blasted a CNN special report on Antisemitism, in which Greenblatt played "a central role," as "a deliberate whitewash of left-wing antisemitism."
