Cheryl Lea “Cheri” Bustos (born October 17, 1961, age 65) is the Democrat party representative from Illinois' 17th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives.
U.S. House of Representatives
DCCC
In 2019, Bustos was elected to chair the DCCC.[2] Under her leadership, the Democrats suffered unexpected major defeats in the 2020 U.S. House elections, with many seats they flipped in the 2018 Midterms flipping back towards the Republican. After a chaotic post-election meeting as was reported by The Hill,[3] Bustos announced that she would not seek chairing the DCCC for a second term.[4]
