Joshua Keck “Josh” Harder (born August 1, 1986 in Turlock, California (age 40)) is a venture capital investor and freshman liberal Democrat currently representing California's 10th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives. Harder was elected to the position in the 2018 midterm elections, defeating Republican then-incumbent Jeff Denham by just under 5% of the vote.[2]

2018 election

Harder in early May 2017 his run for the U.S. House from California's 10th district to challenge Republican Jeff Denham for the latter's seat.[3] In the primary election held on June 5, 2018, Denham finished in first place with a plurality of 37.5% of the votes casted, while Harder finished second place with 17%.[4] Under current California state law, all candidates for congressional races compete in a single primary, with the top two performers facing off in the general election.

Having relied heavily on the San Francisco Bay Area for donations and volunteers,[5][6] it was reported in mid-October 2018 that less than 1% of Harder's campaign donations came from the district he was running in.[7] He ultimately defeated Rep. Denham by a close margin[2] after the latter had pushed for DACA amnesty vote[8] despite opposition to such by constituents.[9]
