Haaretz

Haaretz, though an old timer by history, though always left leaning, it has completely changed over the years. Especially since around 2000 (failing the 2000 Ramallah lynching lynch test[1]), it has been a Hate site,[2] unreliable.

Inside Israel its true image is largely known, while outside Israel it is widely cited erroneously, thinking as if it's typical "Israeli" paper, which it is anything but.[3]

It has become so bad that neo Nazi who proclaim to be on the "right" largely quote this worse-than-just-radical-left as a supposed "source,"[4] for their venom. Some dubbed Haaretz, the Sturmer. [5][6] [7][8][9][10][11][12]

While pushing hate on one hand, it falsely cries "fascism" suggested for click baits, reminds even liberal writer.[13]

In the forefront of the ‘Industry of Lies’

Haaretz is leading in the 'industry of lies.'[14][15][16] Even lefty Yair Lapid accused Haaretz of lying.[17]

Racism

While Haaretz newspaper presents: telling the truth is racism,[18] Journalist protested why did the Haaretz newspaper blame black women for long lines at checkpoints?[19] and in 2018, it was exposed: Schocken’s Schocking Racism [20]

Writing in the Washington Post, writer notes about "Racism in the name of anti-racism":[21]

You can’t make this stuff up. Ha’aretz published an essay by one Salman Masalha, an Arab citizen of Israel who is a prominent poet, who vehemently objects to the fact that he was subject to additional security questioning at Ben-Gurion Airport. Israel, unlike the United States, openly engages in ethnic profiling for security purposes. But this post isn’t about whether or to what extent this is justified.

Rather, it's about an article so thick with irony you can cut it with a knife. In between denouncing brutal Israeli racism and pronouncing that it has no right to exist (so brutal is the racism that he writes this column without apparent fear of repercussion, but that’s the secondary irony), Masalha describes the airport security official who questions him:

'Soon, they reappeared, this time with the reinforcement of a muscular man who carried himself like a senior security figure. The muscle, named Ophir, must have thought that the leader of some terror organization had fallen into his hands and that maybe he’d get to expose him and rise in the ranks of nagging and hassling, the sacred “Jewish-democratic” work from the school of Zionism’s (sic) racists.

How long have you been living in Jerusalem? Where did you live before that? and Where are you from originally?” he asked, along with other questions.

Ophir was a young, darkish security man, perhaps a descendant of converts from the Arabian Peninsula, perhaps from the Atlas Mountains. But one thing was clear, his black color looked very shabby, tattered and stained with evil.'

Like I said, you can’t make this stuff up.

Downplaying Nazi crimes

From the twisted site, The Nazis weren’t so bad?! A shocking Haaretz book review downplays Nazi crimes.[22]

Stupidity+

Per Haaretz: "IDF soldiers don't rape Arab women due to racism."[23]

Obsession

"A review of publications in the.. newspaper Haaretz reveals that on key issues, the paper embraces the enemy’s propaganda and serves as an international hub for disseminating its lies against Israel."[24] In June 2025, mayor banned Haaretz over anti-IDF ‘blood libel’.[25]

This is how a rather left-winger put it in answering the question: "Is Haaretz hated by Israelis?"[26]

Haaretz enjoys the freedom of the press, a fundamental right guaranteed in Israel.

A lot of people criticize Ha’aretz for basically abandoning the Israeli left and becoming a paper that no longer represents those like myself who want democracy, and a two state solution, and freedom of speech. It’s basically a paper that is the Israeli version of Electronic Intifada.

Hypocrisy

While bashing the IDF and spreading falsehoods, still, Haaretz campaigns against the fact that Haredim are overwhelmingly avoiding draft - conscientious objectors.

While it comes up with erronous excuses to white wash radical racist Arab Islamic terror targeting any Jews, it smears anyone expressing anxiety from it.[27]

Admitted politicized agenda

Haaretz admits its politicized agenda. In a moment of honesty, newspaper’s owner, Amos Schocken admitted that Haaretz is striving not for objective and accurate reporting but for promoting a political and campaigning agenda. agenda."[28][3]

Railing against believing in God

Haaretz also fosters atheism, denounces belief in God.[29][30][31][32][33] (Promoted by its head[30]).

Despite this, some, like KKK's David Duke[34][35] and his likes - fake "conservative"[36] promote the site for hatred. Just like: "Haaretz legitimizing Neo-Nazis' anti-Semitism'."[37]

Interesting enough, per pro atheism Haaretz own admission: "most Israeli Jews believe in God."[38] That very atheism-promoter Alpher, in Feb 2025 rant[39]: "'Israeli Atheist' Is Nothing Short of an Oxymoron."

Glorifying jihadi Islamofascist terrorists

In Nov 2024, "Hundreds of cancellations at Haaretz following Schocken's comments"[40] that glorified[41] Islamist jihadi butchers of fascist Hamas, some witholding advertisement,[42] and Government says it’s severing ties with Haaretz.[43]

Only after a wide backlash, did some editors inside Haaretz denounce Haaretz's head (dubbed "auto-anti-Semite"[41]) Amos Shocken's crazy comments.

More recently, consistent with frequent Haaretz depictions of Israel as a racist entity, the paper's chief Arab affairs expert, Danny Rubinstein, told a UN body that Israel was indeed an apartheid state. 13. [Journalist Haviv Rettig Gur]. To my liberal friends abroad who fear Israel is collapsing into fascism because, well, they read Haaretz.... - Haviv Rettig Gur | Facebook [January 28, 2016 at 12:45 PM].

To my liberal friends abroad who fear Israel is collapsing into fascism because, well, they read Haaretz, here's the latest evidence that reading Haaretz can be hazardous to your capacity to actually understand (as opposed to just rail hysterically about) Israeli society and politics.

Haaretz, like others in that wing of the left, are fighting a vindictive, bitter culture war, that is emphatically and explicitly disdainful of Israeliness itself. Here is one of Haaretz's senior columnists arguing without the slightest sarcasm or irony that an Israeli NBA coach *should* be fired and explicitly  for his Israeliness, because - are you sitting down?- Israelis emotional attachment to other Israelis in the NBA is ipso facto fascism.

Last month, Haaretz used the word "fascist" five different times in a two-week period to describe Israel.

For many Haaretz writers, Israeli cultural touchstones are fascist not because they are fascist, but because they are Israeli.

It is often argued among Israelis that Haaretz has adopted this strange political identity for sheer clickbait, prostitution their intellectual integrity and journalistic seriousness for greed. That, at any rate is the optimistic interpretation.

As long as Haaretz itself isn't ashamed of its willful decline, no real harm come to Haaretz from this sort of journalism.

But, inasmuch as it is identified with the broader Israeli left, it is hard to think of any single voice or political actor that has done more damage to that left's prospect in the only arena that counts: the mind of Israeli voters.

In Haaretz, the right is given, miraculously, reification of its own caricature of an incompetent, intellectually dishonest, utterly unelectable, jealously vindictive Israeli left.

I have no evidence that Rogel Alpher and his like-minded friends work for Benjamin Netanyahu. But they do. They are the enemy he yearns for, the enemy that makes his campaign slogan of "It's me or them" an election winner.

I hope he at least goes to the trouble of sending them flowers every time he wins another round at the ballot box.

Yemini is furious with the editors and writers of Haaretz:

In the last decade, Haaretz, the most widely read Israeli daily newspaper in English (outside Israel - editor), has become a central pillar for the industry of lies. The problem is not the opinion pieces. The problem lies in the biases, distortions, and falsehoods, as well as in the encouragement of Palestinian intransigence and violence that Haaretz supports.

While parts of paper remain serious, “unfortunately, the core of writing on the conflict” in recent years has been “dominated by people on the outer margins of the radical Left.”. “While they cloak themselves as progressive and democratic,” Yemini writes, “Haaretz seeks to ‘detour around’ Israelis’ decision-making machinery (in essence, to cancel-out self-determination by the body public and its elected leaders) by selling movers and shakers abroad (both opinion-makers and policy-makers and world public opinion) a bill of goods with three messages about Israel, that need refutation: (1) that Israel commits war crimes (2) that Israel is an apartheid state (3) that Israel refuses to make peace, not the Palestinians.”

Yemini’s examples of erroneous reports along these lines in Haaretz include Gideon Levy’s report of Israeli border patrol soldiers tying prisoners to donkeys that are then sent running until the victims die of wounds and Yitzak Laor’s claim that Israeli soldiers blew up a mosque “with hundreds of people inside, including children.” Yemini also cites Levy’s claim in 2012 that a survey showed that most Israelis supported an apartheid regime and his favorable articles about Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, after the latter made widely-reported anti-Semitic comments. Then there is Amira Hass’s 2008 comment in the face of the Palestinian intifada that “[t]hrowing stones is the birthright and duty of anyone subject to foreign rule.” Fourteen Israelis had been killed by rocks. Yemini cites Levy’s claim in an interview with the British paper, the Independent, that during Operation Cast Lead in 2008-09, a picture of a dog appeared on front page of “the most popular newspaper in Israel” but nothing was there about the “tens of Palestinians killed” that day. None of the authors were fired or disciplined. He adds that Haaretz “no longer represents the liberal or left-wing of the Israeli public—wings that support both human rights and a Jewish and democratic state. There is a Left that rebuts lies and falsehoods about Israel, and there is a Left that disseminates them.”

Lapid's remarks were made in response to an opinion column by Gideon Levy, who claimed that IDF soldiers were shooting helpless Palestinian boys. In response, Lapid said: Haaretz is anti-Zionist, anti-Israeli, and is no longer really a newspaper.

MK Yair Lapid (Yesh Atid) sharply attacked the Haaretz newspaper on his Facebook page this afternoon (Thursday). In response, Lapid wrote: "This is a monstrous text of a newspaper that has long since gone off the rails. Later on, he also accuses me of this killing, but I am sorry for my honor. Not for the honor of IDF soldiers."

A column published in Haaretz reads: "Nothing bad will happen to you if you kill the body of a Palestinian boy in his escape with three bullets at short range - your commanders and Yair Lapid will applaud you...

"Anyone who presents our soldiers as indiscriminate killers knowingly lies and also allows their blood. In all the history of the wars, there has not been an army that has done more to maintain the morale of the fighting and the purity of weapons, but Haaretz is not interested," Lapid said in response. "This is a leaflet saturated with extreme self - hatred of the far left, and this article - like many other articles - is a way to train terrorism. For reasons of self-defense, "wrote the chairman of the Yesh Atid party...

"They are in a hurry to shout 'Freedom of expression!' "One hundred percent, but freedom of expression belongs to everyone, and if in his name they are allowed to lie, then of course I am allowed to tell the truth: Haaretz is anti-Zionist, anti-Israeli, and it is no longer really a newspaper," Lapid wrote.

Aluf Benn - editor of Haaretz, and former judge, Oded El-Yinon, are the winning example that the "enlightened absolutism" and the remnants of the Hellenism of Antiochus Epiphanes IV have not yet passed away from the world and are still alive and well in the State of Israel, more so than in other countries of the world - and even more so when it comes to the war against Judaism and for intolerance...

The "enlightenment" of the "modern" schismatic is in fact the dictatorship of all other subjects. Just as the Hellenists, in the days of Antiochus IV, imposed their idols and culture on other nations in the name of "enlightenment," so Haaretz newspaper produces from within itself publishers, editors, and journalists who exalt every innovation of rebellion against God and worship of abominations and vanities in the wake of the "pluralism" sacred to them, until it reaches Judaism, and then they become downright anti-Semitic animals. What is permitted to the lowest African tribe and cannibals is forbidden to Judaism. What is forbidden to be imposed on any ethnic and religious group is permitted to be imposed violently against the religion of Israel. The current Antiochus of Haaretz newspaper is the editor of this newspaper, and his name is Aluf Ben. This wild man who raises the flag of ignorance has no shame, and he has long since lost his inhibitions. A man whose understanding and education in Judaism is reaching zero is inciting and advocating the use of soldiers to impose the empty "Lib" plan on young Haredi men, instead of Their holy studies. The headline this on-duty Antiochus uses is "Haredim, you are playing with fire"! Just the mere use of the threat that the time will come when soldiers will force the Haredim to study the "Lib" illustrates how forbidden it is for a Haredi to approach the recruitment office and what some secularists think about the goals of this "people's army".

A debate has recently erupted between Haredi Judaism and several other countries around the world, primarily Britain. But there, even the radical "Labor" party (who claim that anti-Semitism landed there...) would not dare to threaten Haredi Judaism by introducing British soldiers into Jewish schools in order to force innocent children to learn the British "Lib" language. It turns out that General Ben, Amos Schocken and the "absolutely enlightened" guard of the Haaretz newspaper have more to learn about the value of "tolerance" even from those who are suspected of anti-Semitism. If the "Labor" people are suspected of anti-Semitism, then General Ben and his ilk are suspected of arch-anti-Semitism. An enlightened country would have long ago ousted a dark and liberal-hating man like General Ben from the newspaper's editorship. At the "New York Times" and "Le Monde" he would not have stayed in his position for another day if he had said such things about the children of Jews and/or Muslims and/or blacks in the US and France. But in Hellenistic Israel, and under Amos Schocken, it was possible to threaten and say the greatest atrocities provided that it was against Judaism and against the Haredim. What helps the anti-Jewish newspaper called Haaretz to proudly present such dark figures are the Haredim parliamentarians. The Jews of France, Belgium, Britain, the USA and even Russia would send their best activists to demand the removal of an anti-Semitic enemy who threatens them with the state army in order to eradicate their Judaism...
