Anonymous is the informal name of a group of American and European domestic terrorists and internet hackers[1] who carry out attacks on websites they object to, or just to cause havoc and mayhem. According to Anonymous, the plural form is anon (more than one person using the name anonymous)

The name 'Anonymous' comes largely from the internet website 4chan.org and its various deviations (7chan, 720chan, 2chan etc.) which is a forum site for trolls. Users who go there are automatically given the name Anonymous.

Activities of anonymous include hacking the email and personal networking accounts of innocent people[2], uploading flashing images to epilepsy sites[3], putting pornography on YouTube for children to see[4], attacking the Church of Scientology[5], hacking news networks to claim CEOs of major corporations are dead to profit off the decline of the companies stock[6], and, in general, discouraging use of the internet for productive or decent purposes.[7]
