(ec) The threatened or anticipated B-2 strikes would be "stand off" strikes, i.e. launched from over the water and not directly over the land target with gravity bombs (kinda like Russia's use of glide bombs outside Ukraine aerial defense systems.) Does the US have a precision guided cruise missile with big enough warhead to go more than 800km? I doubt it. Either way the S-500 (even the S-400) would knock it out first.

The bigger the fuel tank (either liquid or solid fuel) on a standoff cruise missile, the smaller the warhead, and vice versa (unless you're gonna arm it with a nuke).

Now there's two wildcards here: reports indicate that NATO/US did manage to destroy an S-400 system in Crimea that couldn't evacuate quick enough, and another report indicated that Russia did on fact combat-test the S-500 system once in Crimea. This is what the game is all about - forcing the other side to show their hand so that you can develop countermeasures.
Recall, during the Kosovo war, the primitive Serbian spearchuckers shot down the vaunted $500 million Stealth fighter with an S-300, making that version of the Stealth fighter obsolete so that none further have been built ever since. We went on to develop the ever-more expensive Stealth Raptor once the earlier version's vulnerabilities were discovered. And the S-300 now has been converted into just another battlefield artillery piece. My fear is, all this saber-rattling on both sides is just another real-life experiment of their latest toys leading to an ever more expensive arms race. Trump calls Xi Jinping & Putin his "friends", and in both cases openly asks for summit meetings to address denuclearization, war, and trade. Critics say these summits are to fuel his ego as a bigshot, hobnobbing with world leaders. All Putin & Xi need to do is refuse to meet or talk with him.

And if Putin & Xi successfully isolate Trump by refusing his wishes, all that's left for Trump and his successor President Vance, President AOC or whoever is to continue the neocon foreign policy of Joe Biden, calling Putin a "corrupt kleptocrat" and Xi an "authoritarian dictator". Personally, I'm still optimistic for a positive outcome to avoid war with Iran and this piece paints Trump as too much of a warmonger. But it is an important read for balance.

What happened

Trump "hammered China with tariffs", to use User:Conservative's phrase that he spammed into dozens of Mainspace and talk pages over many months. Hammering China with tariffs lasted about 48 hours. Trump ratcheted it up to 145%. China reciprocated with 125% on all US goods. Then Trump exempted electronics. China has not rescinded its 125% tariffs on all US made goods.

So Trump says, "we'll negotiate". Well, Xi has no intention to call Trump. Trump is now isolated. Only Putin is willing to talk to Trump. Putin can relay messages back and forth with Xi. In fact, it was Putin's idea and Putin set up the Iran-US talks, which maybe we can avert war.
