Thomas Earl “Tom” Emmer, Jr. (born March 3, 1961 in South Bend, Indiana (age 65)) is a U.S. representative from Minnesota's 6th congressional district, succeeding movement conservative Michele Bachmann in the position. Formerly a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives and a Republican candidate for Governor of Minnesota in the 2010 election, he has received the endorsement of the Republican Party of Minnesota.
Emmer voted in late July 2020 to remove Civil War-era statues.[2]
Emmer was among 47 Republicans to codify Obergefell V. Hodges (gay marriage).
