Liberalism is a political ideology. In the United States, it is widely considered leftist, while in Europe, it can be considered left-wing or right-wing.

Liberals almost always support "social liberalism", which includes affirmative action, the homosexual agenda, and support for abortion.

In the United States

In the United States, liberals are considered leftists and are represented by the Democratic Party. They advocate increases in government spending, power, and control, such as ObamaCare. They also tend not to support free-market economic policies, instead choosing to adhere to Keynesian economics.

In Europe

In Europe, liberals are more varied. Some parties, such as the Liberal Democrats in the United Kingdom, are considered leftist. However, most, such as the Free Democratic Party of Germany, support a combination of free-market economic policies and social liberalism.
