Washington University is a private university in St. Louis, Missouri, best known for its medical school. It was co-founded by a Christian minister: “In 1853, prominent St. Louis merchant Wayman Crow and his pastor, William Greenleaf Eliot Jr., concerned about the lack of institutions of higher learning in the growing midwest, led the founding of Washington University in St. Louis.”[2] Despite its religious roots, in 2021 it denied religious exemptions to its mandatory COVID vaccine policy.
In 2008, Washington University awarded Phyllis Schlafly an honorary doctorate of humane letters. Liberals immaturely protested: "Wearing white armbands, Washington University faculty and students staged a silent protest as conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly was awarded an honorary degree." [3]
