Tea Party Patriots

The Tea Party Patriots is a 501(c)4 non-profit organization which is a part of the Tea Party Movement. While many other such organizations exist, the Tea Party Patriots in relatively large, claiming 2,800 smaller affiliate groups and over 15 million members. Co-founders and national coordinators of the Tea Party Patriots include Jenny Beth Martin and Mark Meckler. The Tea Party Patriots, acting as an individual group among many other Tea Party organizations, focuses primarily on the goal of reestablishing limited government to America's Constitutional Republic, and has expressed that they are not as supportive on the pro-life and marriage issues as other groups demonstrate. For example, Ralph King, reportedly a member of the Tea Party Patriots national leadership council and also its co-coordinator in Ohio, was quoted as follows:[1]

When they were out in the Boston Harbor, they weren’t arguing about who was gay or who was having an abortion. I look at myself as pretty socially conservative. But that’s not what we push through the Tea Party Patriots.

As a grassroots organization, the Tea Party Patriots typically receive small, private donations. However, they made the news in 2010 when $1 million was anonymously donated be a single entity. It was given to help fund the thousands of affiliate groups under the organization, which are spread across the United States.[2]
