The auto industry is a leading source of jobs in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio, ranked in that order, and to a lesser extent in other states in the Midwest including Kentucky (#4) and Missouri (#8).[1]
Tesla Motors employs 140,000 worldwide, and in the U.S. most of its workforce is in California and Texas which puts those states #6 and #7 in auto employment, respectively.
