Dr. Rand Paul (born January 7, 1963) is the conservative U.S. Senator from Kentucky. His father is Ron Paul. Rand Paul was not[1] named after Objectivist/Libertarian author Ayn Rand.
In 2010, he won the U.S. Senate seat previously held by Jim Bunning after defeating by a landslide the more moderate Trey Grayson in the primary, and then defeating Democrat Jack Conway in the general election.
