This was entirely predictable. The US, focused on "air superiority", has always thought of "air defense" secondarily, and at that not until the 1980s. The Russians, understanding America's aggressive attitude in striving for "air superiority", never tried to compete, but has focused on "missile defense superiority" (going back to the 1959 U2 incident). The US will never have "air defense" superiority, unless it wants to give up "aerial attack" superiority first. There is no balance in American strategic thinking. I don't think Nishant understands what happened. A Patriot cannot catch a hypersonic from behind, but it can get lucky and hit one incoming. So both sides put it to a test: they both sent a barrage of missiles at each other. The Patriot missile battery emptied itself to avoid having all its missiles explode when they realized at least one Russian Kinzhal would get through and cause all the missiles to explode on the ground. Well, five got through, proving the Patriot is vulnerable. And the fact the Pentagon had to admit it, while minimizing the damage with a BS cover story, proves its vulnerability. And that was before escalating to F-16s cause Patriots don't work.
Now, if you want to re-run this expensive (for both sides) scenario, that can be done. But we already know the outcome, no matter what tweaks each side does. So the US wants to test the Russian version of the Patriot - the S-400 against the F-16. I wouldn't connect the F-16s to the Patriot missile. Tanks need air cover. After they decided to send in the Leopards and M-1s back in January, it became hard to avoid sending F-16s as well. Well, the World's Population just crossed 8 BN. The Christian population is around 2.6 BN, roughly 1/3rd or 33%. There are an estimated 2 BN Souls who have not yet even heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
