The Witherspoon Institute "promotes the application of fundamental principles of republican government and ordered liberty to contemporary problems through a variety of academic and other educational ventures."[1] It is located in Princeton, New Jersey.

Its daily online journal, Public Discourse, publishes articles to aide constructive public discussions about what the Witherspoon Institute believes to be the five pillars of every decent and dynamic society: the individual, the family, the university, the market economy, and the state.
