Claire McCaskill, born July 24, 1953 (age 73), is currently the junior United States Senator from the state of Missouri and a member of the Democratic Party. She defeated Republican Senator Jim Talent in 2006 with 50% of the vote.

On September 6, 2006, she publicly stated that "George Bush let people die on rooftops in New Orleans because they were poor and because they were black," when addressing Hurricane Katrina victims.

McCaskill was the co-chair of Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign. She criticized John McCain's age, saying "Other people talk about his melanoma. We’re talking about a reality here that we have to face." [1] Claire McCaskill has voted with a majority of her Democratic colleagues 78.4% of the time during the current Congress. [2] She supported the 2009 Economic Stimulus Package.
