Northallerton is generally regarded as the main admistrative town of the county of North Yorkshire, England due to North Yorkshire County Council having the vast majority of it administrative offices in the area, including it's Headquarters.
The town is located along the East Coast Mainline (ECML), the main Railway line running between London & Edinburgh and just north of Thirsk.
