Thirsk

Thirsk is a market town in the North Riding of Yorkshire in northern England, with a fine market place and church and slight remains (in the form of earthworks) of a medieval castle. It has a racecourse, and is also famous as the model for the fictional town of Darrowby in the popular novels of James Herriot, who worked as a vet in Thirsk.
