The Open-Carry Movement is a recent movement towards the freedom to openly carry a loaded gun for self defense purposes. Open-Carry supporters argue that since they have the an unalienable right (enshrined in the Second Amendment) to own and possess a gun ([handgun]], rifle or shotgun) on their person then they should also have the right, which they do, to carry their weapons in the open without having to hide them away.
This political movement has quickly gained popularity in the United States particularly in the conservative-libertarian-minded American Redoubt states of Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, Eastern Washington and Oregon, along with certain other Western "free states" (see Red States) such as Arizona, Texas, and Alaska
