Talk:Robert Kraft
The incident of Kraft accusing Putin of theft is hilarious and highlights the arrogance of American oligarchs, their disregard for diplomatic protocol, and total ignorance of cultural values.
Kraft, in his pride & arrogance, wanted to show off his "Superbowl ring" to a guy who never heard of the Superbowl and wouldn't know American football from water skiing. So Kraft handed the ring to Putin, in total ignorance of diplomatic protocol. Putin, in compliance with the customs and norms of virtually all societies, accepted it as a gift so as not to offend his guest. Kowtowing to a boastful elitist is not diplomatic.
Then Kraft, in his narcissism, has the temerity to accuse Putin of "stealing" his ring - just adding to the rude stereotype many of America's uncouth "celebrities" & "dignitaries" have amassed among foreigners on behalf of the American people over many decades now. And of course, we Americans know what is best for the rest of the planet, like gay marriage or else economic sanctions, for example.
It was good to see a snob like Kraft cut down to size. His ring will end up in the Russian Presidential Museum, a much worthier destiny than just a plaything for Kraft's ego.
Accepting gifts is always fraught with choices in all societies - accepting it can be misunderstood as a bribe, and refusing it can be considered an insult. Bob Kraft is such a dunce he thinks his pride and ego overrides human nature and custom. RobSZelensky Must Go! 15:35, September 12, 2025 (EDT)
- Option B: You can always blame the translators and lower-level staffers for misunderstandings, but that really doesn't work in the field of diplomacy and international relations. The moral of this story is - learn to recognize propaganda in media and their agenda, particularly if that agenda is demonization on false pretenses.
- When I was a kid we had an offensive label for people like Kraft, "Indian giver". RobSZelensky Must Go! 16:10, September 12, 2025 (EDT)
