Shadow of a Doubt is a 1943 American thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock. It was the first of Hitchcock's American films and also his personal favorite of all his acclaimed work.[1] It is widely regarded as one of Hitchcock's best films; it boasts a rare "100% Fresh" rating on the film review website Rotten Tomatoes.[2]

It was a very low-budget movie, filmed on location in Santa Rosa, California and in New Jersey, at a cost of less than $3,000 during World War II when there was a limit of $5,000 in production costs in order to prevent diversion from the war effort.
