A pregnancy resource center (or "crisis pregnancy center") is typically operated by a pro-life group (typically an independent organization supported by an interdenominational group of churches or individuals) to assist women who are or may be pregnant. Pregnancy resource centers have greater assets than abortion clinics, and provide far more help including free supplies and health-related services, guidance in obtaining financial support, and temporary housing. Surveys show that the cause of abortion in 1 out of every 5 cases is inadequate or unstable housing for the mother, but this is freely available through these resource centers to those in need. Some pregnancy resource centers receive government $$$$ for this and will generously help pregnant women who decline abortion.

Many pregnancy resource or crisis pregnancy centers counter the deceptive practices of abortion clinics, and instead provide women with factual information and support in favor of childbirth. The full availability of obtaining support, either through donations or public assistance, is not widely known, and the option of adoption can also be discussed. Planned Parenthood typically opposes these centers -- which are often effective -- and estimates that there are about 4,000 nationwide.

One study shows that women who visit a crisis pregnancy center (CPC) are 40% less likely to have an abortion than those who do not:[1]

13.1% of respondents [who had searched for abortion services online] visited a confirmed CPC. Living further away from a CPC was associated with lower odds of a CPC visit. At follow-up, respondents who had visited a CPC were significantly less likely to have had an abortion (29.5%) than those who had not visited a CPC (50.5%).

Generally, the pregnancy resource or crisis pregnancy center will provide free pregnancy tests along with materials and counseling. Larger centers may also have a sonogram machine, to assist in showing the pregnant woman how far along in the pregnancy she is, and to show that she is carrying a baby and not "fetal tissue". Some centers work in connection with adoption agencies and may have more than one location. Miraculously, these centers have been able to obtain facilities that were formerly abortion clinics, or within sight of them, thus allowing them to reach clients who may have been pressured into an abortion.[2]

Care Net and Heartbeat International are two major organizations supporting pregnancy resource centers; both groups maintain a list of affiliated centers, and it is common for a center to be a member of both groups in order to reach the most clients.

A pro-choice article posted by the ultra-liberal magazine Mother Jones admits the effectiveness of these centers: at the time of the article,[3] there were nearly twice as many pregnancy resource centers as abortion facilities.[4]

California's left-wing government passed a law that mandated that such centers provide information on abortion, including nearby clinics (the law, of course, did not require abortion clinics to provide information on pro-life pregnancy resource centers). The Supreme Court ruled 5–4 in 2018 in National Institute of Family and Life Advocates v. Becerra that the law was unconstitutional in that it targeted the speakers and not the content of such speech.

New Jersey

There are an estimated 54 pregnancy resource centers in New Jersey,[5] and abortion clinics dislike the competition.

Many funding programs for virtually every possible need are available to single moms in New Jersey.[6]

New York

There are at least 24 anti-abortion centers across the city, compared with 20 abortion clinics; across the state there are 120 anti-abortion centers compared with 74 abortion clinics, according to the Pro-Truth database.[7]

Oklahoma

Oklahoma has allocated millions of dollars annually to support pregnancy, childbirth, and pro-life telehealth efforts. The Oklahoma Life Foundation distributes these funds.[8]

Texas

Pregnancy resource centers far outnumber abortion clinics in Texas, and are effective to the dismay of the liberal media.[9]
