She deals with various aspects of immigration and is qualified under the Law Society’s Immigration & Asylum Accreditation Scheme as a Senior Caseworker. Lola is particularly passionate about human rights of women and of the LGBT community."[2]

The Anti-Theism International Convention 2020 website states about Lola Tinabu:

“ Lola [Tinabu], originally from Nigeria, has lived in the UK for 30 years. She comes from a staunch Seventh Day Adventist Church family: her father was a Church Elder, her mother a Deaconess. She became an atheist 14 years ago and felt alone because she did not know any other black atheists. So, along with Clive Arunde, she founded the London Black Atheists in 2012 to address the need for the recognition of the insidious influence of religion in African culture.[3] ”

In her atheist deconversion story Lola Tinabu indicates:

“ I’ve always thought about religion since I was very young. I’ve always asked questions. I was a bit confused about some of the things I was brought up with, and I remember always asking my dad a lot of questions and it was only when I came to the UK that I had the space to enquire more...

In Nigeria, if you are from a Christian family everyone that you would know, most likely, or that your parents would know or that your relatives would know, all your network, would be Christian. So if you are not a Christian, or if you are an atheist, you are seen as like the devil, and you are worse than witches.[4]
