John F. Kennedy

John Fitzgerald Kennedy was the 35th American president. He died in 1963 when he was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald. He authorized the de-segregation of Federal housing and proposed the civil rights bill, passed after his assassination. He successfully faced down the Soviet Union's plans to station nuclear missiles in Cuba and faced down a number of hawks in his own administration during that crisis. He also pledged the USA to put a man on the moon before the end of the 1960s. He is considered by many to be one of the greatest American Presidents.
