Christopher Shays was a moderate Republican in the House of Representatives from Connecticut, who represented its fourth district. He endorsed Senator John McCain of Arizona for President of the United States in 2008. He entered Congress in the special election in 1987 and was reelected every year until 2008. In 2008 he lost to Democrat Jim Himes.
