The New York Yankees are a Major League Baseball team located in the Bronx area of New York City, New York.

Some call the Yankees the greatest of all sports franchises of all times, others simply limit the statement to baseball. In any case, there is strong argument to be made for their absolute excellence in that they have won 26 World Series over the course of their star-studded history, dwarfing their nearest rival. In fact, no sports team in any sport has won as many championship games as the Yankees have.

The Yankees are also one of the best funded teams in all baseball, a fact that critics have criticised and fans have lauded.

The history of the Yankees is replete with such legendary luminaries as Babe Ruth, Lou Gherig, Micky Mantle, Joe Dimaggio, Roger Marris, and Yogi Berra, some of the absolute most famous players of the game.
