Shock and Awe was a tactic used by American forces in the 2003 Invasion of Iraq designed to frighten Iraqi troops into surrender with a constant barrage by Air Force bombers. Not a new idea in warfare by any means, but never since the massacre of Béziers ("Slay them all, God will know his own"[1]) has a government been so open about the use of Shock and Awe.
