The Air Force is the aviation and aerospace branch of the American military.

Advertising Campaign

On February 20, 2008, the Air Force announced that they would use a new advertising slogan to recruit new Airmen. The chosen slogan was "Above All".[1]

It was quickly pointed out[2] that this slogan may trigger somewhat unfortunate associations. The phrase "above all" is the translation of a part of the first line of the "Deutschlandlied" ("The Germany Song"), which is mostly known for its use during the Nazi era:

“ "Deutschland, Deutschland über alles"

("Germany, Germany above all")

”
