Vereniging tegen de Kwakzalverij
Vereniging tegen de Kwakzalverij (VtdK; English: "Association against Quackery") is the oldest skeptical organization in the world, having been founded in 1880 in the Netherlands. In the 1950s, it expanded its focus on alternative medicine.
The influence of this skeptical organization has greatly waned as evidenced by the latter 20th century and 21st century seeing a resurgence of religion and religious fundamentalism (See: Desecularization and Growth of global desecularization and Growth of religious fundamentalism) and the 21st century seeing an explosion in the popularity and profitability of alternative medicine and complementary medicine.[1]
In 2020, the Netherlands had a fertility rate of 1.55 births per woman which is below a replacement level of 2.1 births per woman (See: Atheism and fertility rates). Europe, which is less religious than the United States has a subreplacement level of births, is projected to have a population that is 30% less smaller by the end of the century.[2] See also: Decline of Europe
Numerous atheists have declared that the "atheist movement is dead" or that it is dying (see: Decline of the atheist movement)[3]
