Welcome Message

Welcome to my user page. My name is Scott Schaefer and I am an American Patriot, an American Conservative, husband and father. Although he was a fictional character and I am a real character, like Howard Beale, I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore.

Not a day passes when I don't feel deep, almost overwhelming sadness for the loss of the country which I no longer recognize as the country of my youth, and yet still the greatest country in the world. I'll not give up, no matter how tired I am. Nor shall I succumb to apathy, defeatism or taking the easy road. I think of the Founding Fathers who sacrificed their lives and their fortunes. How dare I take the easy way. I think of Ronald Reagan, who at 80 years old wouldn't remove his suit jacket in the Oval Office out of respect for the office and the United States. How dare I say I'm tired.

A Blessed Life

I was born in Queens, New York in 1964. It was the year that saw Lyndon Johnson and the left so disingenuously attack Barry Goldwater. It was also the year that Ronald Reagan delivered The Speech that warned we had come to a Time for Choosing, and the year which saw Reagan launch his political career. I would someday have the good fortune to work for both Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan, but in 1964 I wasn't yet ready.
