The Sting (released on Christmas Day, 1973) was an immensely successful film that won 7 Oscars and garnered nearly 30 times in box revenues compared with its $5.9 million cost of production. The film was the most popular of its year, and is considered one of the finest screenplays ever written.

This movie quite masculine in style, having many scenes that are all men. In one scene a woman is a villain who is dealt with more harshly than a woke film would.

The musical score for the movie was a big hit also.

Actor Robert Shaw's performance was spectacular but under-appreciated, as in his other movies.
