Did Jesus visit Hell after the Crucifixion?
Tha article states "But afterward Jesus presumably visited Hell..." Both the Apostles' Creed and the Athanasian Creed - but not the Nicene Creed - say Jesus visited Hell. But this not Biblically supported - there's a difference between Hades and Hell. See http://www.allaboutjesuschrist.org/did-jesus-go-to-hell-faq.htm for a discussion. And in any case, I will assert that "presumably" is not encyclopedic. PaulBurnett 20:04, 1 January 2011 (EST)
- I have an open mind, and would like to learn more about this. I'll review your link and consider ways to improve the content page. [[Category:Mystery]] is, of course, somewhat different from regular encyclopedic entries, but just as informative. Thanks and Godspeed.--Andy Schlafly 20:23, 1 January 2011 (EST)
- Your link seems thorough and clear. But I wonder if this isn't just another attempt to deny the very real existence of Hell. More discussion needed ....--Andy Schlafly 21:59, 1 January 2011 (EST)
- The "very real existence of Hell" is not in question. In addition to its many mentions in the Old Testament, Jesus spoke of an "unquenchable fire" (Matthew 3:12), an "everlasting fire," (Matthew 25:41) and "everlasting punishment" (Matthew 25:46). The existence of Hell is not the question. The question is "Did Jesus visit Hell after the Crucifixion?" - the Bible does not say that he did....does it? If so, where?
