The M1 tank is one of the stupidest projects the United States ever embarked on from 1963 to 2024.
Where do we begin explaining why? How about the fact that it runs on jet fuel, which means jet fuel storage tanks, a prime military target, have to be built near the battlefield and the jet fuel has to be specially transported in.
The Russians & Soviets might have been stupid, in a political sense, but nowhere near as stupid in an operational and military planning sense as the United States Congress, which funded the project, and the Pentagon, which have proven themselves to be far more stupid for more than half a century.
And now, with the war on fossil fuels (and the M1A1 withdrawn from production cause it can't compete, even with all its expensive hi-tech innovations, against Soviet-era tanks designed and built in the 1970s, as proven in the NATO war in Ukraine), they want to build electric tanks with the same problem: using what power source?
