Southern England

Southern England is a sub-national part of England. Broadly speaking, southern England is bound to the north by a diagonal line running between the Severn estuary and the Wash (in the west and east respectively) and to the south by the English Channel. Culturally, economically and politically, the South differs in many ways from the Midlands and the North, though there are many such differences within the South itself. Southern England is not itself one of the nine statistical regions of England, but for statistical purposes normally consists of the South West, South East, London and East of England regions combined.

Cultural regions within southern England include the East Anglia, the Home Counties and the West Country.
