Ripon is a cathedral city and civil parish in the West Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is located on the River Ure, with the rivers Laver and Skell meeting the Ure in the city. Ripon lies roughly halfway between Darlington, County Durham and Leeds, with those being around 30 miles to the north and south respectively. The settlement dates to at least the 7th century, at which time it was within the Anglian kingdom of Northumbria.
