Michael Hayden is the former Director of National Intelligence under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. Hayden previously was appointed director of the National Security Agency by President Bill Clinton. During his tenure as NSA director, he oversaw the controversial surveillance of technological communications between persons in the United States and alleged foreign terrorist groups, which resulted in the NSA warrantless surveillance controversy.

Hayden had made statements in support of John Brennan and the Deep state coup attempt against President Donald Trump. President Trump is reviewing the status of Hayden's security clearance.
