Markus Reisner

Col. Markus Reisner is Head of Research and Development for the Austrian Military Academy, Commander of the Austrian Honor Guards Battalion as of 2024.

Reisner is a General Staff officer in the Austrian Armed Forces. With extensive experience in Special Operations and deployments in conflict zones. He holds a PhD in history and interdisciplinary legal studies. He's a member of the Military History Advisory Board and serves as the Head of Research and Development at the Theresian Military Academy. Reisner is a respected military expert on the NATO war in Ukraine, known for his publications on military history and the future of warfare.

In November 2024 Reisner pointed out how even when Ukrainian forces had superiority in inventiveness, making innovations and modifications to weapon designs on the battlefield, such as drones for instance, the Russians were able to copy the improvements and produce the improved designs at a scale of 10-1, concluding logistically, it is impossible for Ukraine to win.
