J. K. Rowling
J. K. Rowling (full name Joanne Kathleen Rowling) is the author of the popular Harry Potter book series.
She was born on July 31, 1965, in Chipping Sodbury, England.[1] She has said that "the idea for Harry Potter simply fell into [her] head" while riding a train from Manchester to London in 1990.[2]
In 2008, Rowling gave the commencement address at Harvard University.[3]
Rowling is firmly liberal in her politics, and despite being from the UK, has supported both Hillary Clinton and Obama, stating "I want a Democrat in the White House. And it seems a pity that Clinton and Obama are rivals because both are extraordinary." [4] Her books were written while she was a divorced single mother, living on welfare benefits provided by the government, while she worked the minimum necessary to maintain her benefits.[5] Rowling also worked for the Pro-Choice, Pro-Gay, Anti-Israel Human "Rights" organization Amnesty International,[6] and donated 1 million pounds (1.6 million dollars) to the No campaign when Scotland was thinking about leaving the UK.[7] Being staunchly pro-abortion, she has attacked U.S. President Donald Trump for reinstating a ban on giving American taxpayer money to international groups that perform abortions.[8] In spite of these things, however, she does oppose transgenderism, according to her tweets.[9]
