Escapism can significantly impact time management.

Escapism "is the act of seeking distraction and relief from the pressures and challenges of daily life by immersing oneself in alternative activities or environments. It involves temporarily disconnecting from reality to find solace and respite from stressors, whether those stressors are emotional, psychological, or social."[1]

Overcoming escapism

To overcome escapism, individuals should: discover and focus on addressing the underlying issues/triggers that lead to seeking escape through greater self-awareness, mindfulness and self-reflection; engage in activities that provide a sense of accomplishment/achievement and purpose, engage in goal setting; cultivate a more balanced approach to life; improve one's emotional intelligence; practice stress management; increasing one's social connections (See also: Social networking and Interpersonal skills and Friendship). This involves confronting challenges head-on, practicing mindfulness and getting out of one's comfort zone.
