Conception Abbey

Conception Abbey is a monastery of Benedictine Monks founded in the 19th century as a refuge from Switzerland, over concerns about potential government suppression there.

Its translation of the Book of Psalms was adopted in 2025 for the new Catholic American Bible, effective in the liturgy beginning with Lent in 2027.

Justice Clarence Thomas was a seminarian at this Abbey in 1968.
