Catholic American Bible

The Catholic American Bible is a new translation of the Bible approved for personal and liturgical use beginning on Ash Wednesday (February 10) 2027. The delay is presumably to allow hymnals to be printed and distributed.

This new translation is based on:

• a replacement of the Book of Psalms with a translation by Conception Abbey monks in Missouri, who created "The Abbey Psalms and Canticles";
• the remainder of the Old Testament will be an updated revision of the currently used NABRE; and
• the New Testament is a revised translation.

"On July 1, 2019 the USCCB purchased the copyrights to the Revised Grail Psalter and the Old and New Testament Canticles translated by the monks of Conception Abbey in Missouri."
