Category talk:Political pressure on scientists
We need more articles on the political pressure put on scientists, by opinionated loudmouths who want to censor scientific findings - for no other reason than that the findings contradict their personal beliefs --Ed Poor 22:54, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
- Just a reminder to make sure that James E. Hansen shows up here too when that article is created.[1] --Mtur 22:56, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
- I'm also going to point that the same political appointee that was pressuring scientists on climate was also rewording other science statements on the website.[2] The email sent states:
In October 2005, Mr. Deutsch sent an e-mail message to Flint Wild, a NASA contractor working on a set of Web presentations about Einstein for middle-school students. The message said the word “theory” needed to be added after every mention of the Big Bang.
The Big Bang is “not proven fact; it is opinion,” Mr. Deutsch wrote, adding, “It is not NASA’s place, nor should it be to make a declaration such as this about the existence of the universe that discounts intelligent design by a creator.”
[Deutsch’s email] continued: “This is more than a science issue, it is a religious issue. And I would hate to think that young people would only be getting one-half of this debate from NASA. That would mean we had failed to properly educate the very people who rely on us for factual information the most.”
- While there was not any specific scientist involved in this, you do have an instance of political pressure put on a scientific agency who wanted to censor scientific findings for no other reason that they contradict their personal beliefs. --Mtur 15:09, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
Umn, this could be a can of worms
For example, some extreme liberial professors have recently felt pressure, as have some professors who attempted to conduct science and investigation, and disseminate thier doubts about the official story regarding the events of 9-11-2001. Does conservapedia really want this classification? Not sure, but thought I would point this out--it could be a can of worms. HeartOfGold 18:48, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
