CJ Stroud is a phenomenal young NFL QB who shattered many records in 2023 and early 2024 (playoffs) as a rookie, playing for the Houston Texans while outspokenly evangelizing for Jesus Christ. Previously, as a star college player at Ohio State, he was photographed kneeling in prayer on the field.[1] The "J" in his nickname "CJ" is unexplained, which looks like "JC" for "Jesus Christ" in reverse, and has last name is merely one letter from "Shroud" as in the Shroud of Turin. Paul often used the phrase "Christ Jesus" in addition to writing "Jesus Christ."

He grew up in a family impoverished by the 38-year incarceration of his father under California's brutal Three Strikes and You're Out Law.[2] CJ's home with his mother and siblings was a cramped apartment above a storage facility, and was reportedly even near or actually homeless for a time. CJ was quoted as saying about his father:

When I talk to him now, I don’t hold any ill will. I told him, ‘I love you.’ He made his mistakes. I’ve made mine. It’s not about the bad.[3]

When he led his underdog team to clinch a playoff birth, he was interviewed about it and said:

I can’t do nothing just thank my Lord to save Jesus Christ man.[4]

When CJ earned money under the NIL program as a college star at Ohio State, he bought his mother a four-bedroom home.[3] He was subsequently picked as the #2 overall choice in the 2022 draft.
