Benny Lee Beckum (born July 14, 1950) is an Independent Baptist evangelist and scholar known for his accent on prayer in the Christian life. The founder and president of Intercessor Ministries, Inc., he is the author of Prayer Revival: A Textbook on Prayer, Fasting, and Revival.[1]

Beckum was born in Savannah, Georgia. His first wife, Linda Diane Beckum (1951-2001) died at the age of forty-nine of both breast and brain cancer. Their joint grave marker is at the Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Salley in Aiken County, South Carolina.[2] It was his wife's lengthy illness that led to his concentration on prayer. "Not everyone is called to preach, but everyone is called to pray. .. Prayerlessness is a sin of negligence," Beckum said.

He resides in Walkertown near Winston-Salem, North Carolina, with his second wife, the former Jeannette Alisa Ravenga, a widow whom he wed in 2013, who assists him in the ministry. He travels widely throughout the United States to promote the emphasis on prayer.
