Bend is a city in the US state of Oregon. It is the county seat of Deschutes County and is located in Central Oregon. At the time of the 2000 census had a population of 52,029.

History

Prior to the nineteenth century the region that is now Bend was not permanently settled. From the 1820s a series of fur trapping and army survey parties passed through the area, fording the Deschutes River and - by the twenieth century - a settlement formed permanently at the bend of the river.

The city was incorporated in 1904 and A. H. Goodwillie was made the first mayor a year later.
