Amish in California

Amish in California have not had a community since a short-lived attempt in 1913 in Salinas.[1] There are Amish communities in Montana and Colorado, which have more cold weather useful to Amish for refrigeration without electricity, and a spinoff from those states into California remains possible in the future.

Calfornia's Leftist laws, including its ban since January 1, 2016 on any religious exemptions from vaccines, discourage expansion by the Amish into the Golden State.

There is a "plain presence" in California due to some Mennonites living there.
