Multiculturalism used to mean the celebration of the good things that other cultures bring to the melting pot of America. This pluralism has given way to a particularism which exalts foreign culture, language and even national identity over American ideals.
Many conservatives - in the US, largely Christian conservatives - tend to see multiculturalism as an attack on America's traditional Christian culture.
