Matthew Roy "Matt" Blunt (born November 20, 1970) served as Governor of Missouri from 2005 though 2009, having been elected in 2004 and defeated for reelection to Democrat Jay Nixon in 2008. Blunt is a member of the Republican party and the son of Senate candidate and former House Minority Whip Roy Blunt.

A 1993 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Governor Blunt is currently a Lieutenant Commander in the Naval Reserve. Blunt was the only statewide official in Missouri history called to active military duty in wartime, serving for six months in Operation Enduring Freedom.
