Aphrodite was the Greek Goddess of Beauty and Love. She was called Venus by the Romans, after the evening star (which we know today is a planet called Venus).

Aphrodite was married to Hephaestus (Vulcan), the blacksmith god but she was secretly in love with Ares (Mars), the god of War.
