Busido is the Japanese code of honor named after the 'Bushi' or Samurai.
Bushi is the name for the Buke class of warriors in Japan who were not nobles but who nevertheless held an honorable position.
It was a way of life for the them, more than just a code. Bushido had several points that it greatly stressed:
- Loyalty
- Self sacrifice
- Justice
- Sense of shame
- Refined manners
- Purity
- Modesty
- Frugality
- Martial spirit
- Honor
- Affection
This lifestyle thrived until the late 1800's.
