Appeasement

Appeasement is the policy of giving in to the demands of a hostile or aggressive power in an attempt to keep the peace. [1]
In History
British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain appeased Hitler, declaring "Peace for our time" in 1938. Within a year, World War II had broken out.
